Following a review of square box listings on the Model Lists, the Expert Committee recommended that trimethoprim be included on the core list of the EML and EMLc as an independent listing as first choice treatment for lower urinary tract infections. The note indicating trimethoprim as an alternative for lower urinary tract infections was removed from the listing for sulfamethoxazole + trimethoprim.
