Following a review of dermatological medicines on the Model Lists prepared by the International League of Dermatological Societies, the Expert Committee recommended the addition of terbinafine cream and ointment to the core list of the EML and EMLc. The Committee noted that although terbinafine ointment is reported to be more effective than 1% azoles for the treatment of tinea pedis, the evidence provided in the review was not sufficient to support this claim. It is relatively expensive, but is increasingly available from generic sources.
