Given that barium sulfate is administered in specialized facilities under the supervision of radiologists, the Subcommittee endorsed the inclusion of barium sulfate on the complementary list of the EMLc. The EMLc Subcommittee noted concerns expressed about the licensing status of barium sulfate for use in children. The EMLc Subcommittee considered that an expert review of this area in relation to the imaging of children should be provided for the next meeting.
