Following the review of the age-appropriateness of formulations of essential medicines for children, the Expert Committee recommended the following changes to the listing of acetylsalicylic acid:
- the lower strength of the range of strengths for acetylsalicylic acid tablets be changed from 100 mg to 75 mg;
- removal of the 50 mg strength of suppositories, and addition of 300 mg strength of suppositories;
- addition of dispersible tablets (75 g, 300 mg and 500 mg) to facilitate dosing in children unable to swallow solid tablets.
