The EMLc Subcommittee recognized that the need for peritoneal dialysis solution in children would be very low, and that it would be used for acute rather than chronic dialysis. The Subcommittee endorsed the inclusion of peritoneal dialysis solution in the EMLc (complementary list). The existing listing (of appropriate composition) would cover hypo-, iso- and hypertonic glucose solutions. The Subcommittee emphasized the need for manufacturers to consider providing peritoneal dialyxix bags of appropriate volume for use in children, according to the size of the child, for example 500 mL or 1000 mL.
